cooking - i made spinach & feta empanadas this week. They were well received & devoured by the krew with ice cold beer , as fast as i could let them cool & drain from the frying. Over the Holidays My Husband is a homemade pie bandit !but? That's My Boo - He can have anything He wants! --

PARENTHOOD - old wives tales
Reading these lately, Curious about the origins....Especially the many Caribbean/African ones -that My Mom & Female relatives instilled in me , all the things my Granny used to tell me when i was child- things like?
Never take a baby out after sunset without a cap on their head!
The funny thing is? i never thought i was remotely superstious, until i had my son
[& during the pregnacy.] "You must be carrying that baby in your butt!" [small belly 1rst.trimester] & All that stuff about "marking" the baby? & Staying away from bad mind people resurfaced ! [laughing] i guess, after 5 years? I'm turning into an old wife?
Some of the wives tales have lots of merit like - Stay away from negative people - Especially if You're a breastfeeding Mom. The warnings to leave bitter / sour women alone - those who pretend to befriend, but are jealous of you. I do think that Babies can sense &pick up on many things [emotionally] like osmosis.
Even my Husband, Cracks up when, right before We leave the house for an outing? i'm in panic paranoid looking for a matching crochet cap or white kufi for myLittle King's round - round head, to cover the "mole"of the baby's head so he can be safe from the cold & colic, mayhem & malvais! [ a styling lil' GQ baby]

I don't do much darkroom work in the home studio lately because We have a Little One in the house, now. [ kicking the toxic chemicals to the curb, lately] but i used to loved experimenting with cut [window] screens or netting, under the beseler enlarger or putting a piece of old lace to create a cool pattern when burning the image onto the photography paper from the roll of film.
I am finding, Digital photography can be equally as challenging & fun! the leaf used in Nov.17th entry of theblog photo art, I found when out walking a nature trail with My Husband one afternoon, It was then scanned directly into the notebook with a sheet of newspaper placed on top [the stocks section, in business - actually] i altered it, in photoshop using a filter. The end result is - what you see. Fallen Leaf & Newpaper . You are only limited by your Own Creativity.

also cotton laid paper is cool, linen paper, pearl luminance finish, matte sometimes parchment / vellum [the kind you get from a generic mega office supply store] a few metallic papers, i've used cold press canson watercolor paper & various watercolr rag type papers [from utrect] with satisfactory results..I'ved also tried trimmed down plain cotton fabric, & linen touse , the results vary so experiment [& when doing thatuse a fixative to set the ink]
